The Drop Stitch Fingerless Gloves!

Hooray- another new SPRING pattern to go along with this warmer weather we are having! It's worth mentioning, this one is knit on teeny tiny needles (size 4's)- definitely a first for us at Knit Collage. Danielle Shields, who has knit a plethora of amazing patterns for us, has designed another gorgeous one. This design is a fingerless glove pattern with a beautiful drop stitch detail running down the center. I was terrified of putting my size 17 needles aside to knit these but they really weren't too hard. The end result was worth it. These mitts fit perfectly snug and are just so darn pretty. The pattern is knit with 1 skein of our Maharani Silk yarn and is available now on Ravelry here.  I knit mine in colorway's Navy Pop & Deep Sea Wave.

I added in the thumb stripe for fun! This is a pic of the back of the glove.

Ladder Stitch Cowl

This is one of my absolute favorite patterns for our yarns, if not my favorite, designed by Danielle Shields. It works amazingly well with our Rolling Stone & Gypsy Garden yarns. The ladder stitch, which is created by dropping stitches, makes for a lightweight yet warm finished cowl. I’m not usually a fan of knitting our yarns too tightly because the finished result can be too heavy and the handspun trim details get lost. This loose, open stitch shows off the yarn beautifully. You’re able to see more of the yarn’s color and texture details when it’s knit this way too. The pattern calls for 2 skeins of yarn but you could use 1 skein if you want the cowl to wrap around your neck just once! The pattern is available on Ravelry here.

The above cowl is knit in Raspberry Sunset Gypsy Garden yarn.

The above cowl is knit in Rambling Rose Rolling Stone yarn.

Winter Sparkle Mittens

I am highly excited about our first ever mitten pattern! It seems like I've been waiting for this day for ages. And the timinig couldn't be better weather-wise. Here in Boston, it's getting to be very chilly and mitten-worthy. I plan on donning these every single artic cold day.

This pattern is super simple and works perfectly with 1 skein of Pixie Dust Mini yarn.  I love the way the yarn's colors and sparkles stripe together randomly in this pattern. It shows off the gorgeousness of the yarn nicely. The pattern is available of Ravelry for $2.50 here. The colorway shown below is Peacock Shimmer.

yup, that's embarrassing!
