The Homeward Bound Blanket Pattern

It feels like forever since my last post! Things have been so hectic with 2 tradeshows back to back in June and July, not to mention Trammel & I are getting married in 3 weeks! Eek, there's so much to do...I'm definitely not going to have time to DIY everything I want to. I'm so excited! Expect pics of some kind here at the end of August.

On another note, about a month ago I finished the Homeward Bound Blanket by designer Cheryl Kubat. I met her while in Newburyport, MA at a yarn event in March. I saw her knitting this and knew right then that I NEEDED to make it! It's a really fun knit- fast and chunky- how I like em! The pattern is knit on size 36 circular needles.  It calls for Brown Sheep Burly Spun but you could also use our Sister yarn. I'm working on my second blanket in Sister now and the yarns are interchangeable for this pattern. Instead of using a solid i-cord border, I wanted to add a little more glitz (I couldn't help myself!) plus I have all these short skeins of yarn lying around.  So, I decided to use a mixed bag of our Knit Collage yarns on the border. Take a peek below. Cheryl's version with a single i-cord color for the edging is also so beautiful. For a link to her pattern on Ravelry, click here. It's super warm and functional too, even better!

And Cheryl's below! Amazing Photography by Meg Manion Silliker.
