Boho Fringe Bag

post by Amy Small | knit bag patterns, pixie dust | Monday November 29, 2010

Over the holiday weekend, I found the time to whip up a bag that I've been thinking about for quite sometime.  It's the perfect compliment to all my boring winter outfits!  I instantly feel like I belong on the set of Almost Famous while carrying it.  It also knits up super fast (US 19 needles) and would make a great holiday gift.  I used 2.5 skeins of Pixie Dust yarn in Aqua Frost and fabric I had lying around for the lining and button.  Take a peek below and send me an email at amy@knitcollage.com if you're interested in the pattern.

Copious amounts of fringe along the sides and bottom hem of the bag.

Detail shot of the fabric covered button.

Hand block printed fabric lining from jaipur, India.

Love of Knitting Magazine

post by Amy Small | Love of Knitting | Wednesday November 24, 2010

Our yummy yarns were just featured in the winter issue of the magazine Love of Knitting.  In this issue, there are pics and patterns for 2 beanie hats we whipped up, an adult and kid version, using our Kinari Bazar and Mermaid Cafe yarns. Take a sneak peek in the pics below. For the complete pattern, you'll have to buy a copy of the magazine, available here http://www.quiltandsewshop.com/product/Love-of-Knitting-Winter-2010/just-arrived or at any big bookstore like Borders.  To find out more about this magazine, visit www.loveofknitting.com

Farewell Hong Kong!

post by Amy Small | knit collage studio space, inspiration | Sunday November 14, 2010

In just 2 days, Knit Collage will say goodbye to Hong Kong and move our home office back to the US.  The studio here has been a fantastic place to design, spin crazy yarns and grow our tiny business over the past year.  We'll miss the space and cute area dearly.  Our amazing Hong Kong colleague Mavis will keep a desk here to handle the Asian wing of the business, sourcing trims for the yarns and hopefully helping us expand into the Japanese and Korean knitting markets.  Below, a few pics from the studio that we'll cherish forever.  Farewell Hong Kong!

Indian trims...

Our lovely quiet street.  We'll miss Po Hing Fong!
