Mod Mannequins

post by Amy Small | 1960's, | Saturday September 4, 2010

While planning for our next tradeshow, in Shanghai at Spin Expo, I decided to splurge on some 1960's dummy heads I found on ebay.  They arrived yesterday and are so much better that I could have imagined! They sort of remind me of the Austen Powers femme bots, part super power alien and part 1960's babeliscious hottie! Love how vintage and mod they are.  Now how to pack these safely in my suitcase?!  Take a peak below. We leave for Shanghai Monday bright and early!

Japan Travels

post by Amy Small | japan travel | Tuesday August 31, 2010

I spent last weekend in Tokyo, on my way back from the US to Hong Kong.  I always love going and was not disappointed this time around!  I spent waaaaaaay too much of new sweaters, all I ever seem to buy because I love them even though it's always too hot to wear them here.  On top of that, I splurged on Japanese magazines and a few knitting books I clearly don't understand, but the pics were so inspiring there was no way I was leaving the shop without them.  Take a quick peak at my favorite images that I found on the trip, shown below.  This is what's inspiring me now.

Native American India and Pendelton Blanket Jacquards. I love the eclectic tribal feel.

Jean Paul Gaultier did it best with these crazy embellished sweaters!

From this month's US Vogue.  Love this image.

bedazzled friendship bracelets from Frieda & Nellie.

Japanese magazine photoshoot- girl in teepee with a spinning wheel- amazing.

Cute bag from one of the knitting books I bought.  I want to try knitting one up in our yarns.  I love the way the designer used a vintage handkerchief for the strap.  There is so much more but I'll leave it at that!
