About Amy Small, designer:

Amy Small is the Creative Director at Knit Collage.  After studying textile and apparel design at Cornell University, she went on to design sweaters and accessories at Free People for 5 years.  While there her love of travel, yarn and knitwear developed.  This soon led to her move from her hometown of Philadelphia to Hong Kong where she began Knit Collage.  In addition to selling yarn, Amy works as a freelance sweater designer and trend forecaster, focusing on sustainable design.   She is also the Fashion Director for EcoChic Fashions, an eco and ethical multi-label fashion show organized by the Hong Kong charity Green2greener. In this role, Amy researches up-and-coming sustainable and ethical fashion designers and labels from around the world.

About Knit Collage:

At Knit Collage we celebrate all things yarntastic! Our goal is to create fun, eccentric yarns for adventuresome knitters, ready to take their knitting into uncharted territories.   Based in Hong Kong, we use the local trim market for all our creative sourcing needs.  In the studio bits of ribbons, sequins, flower appliqués, and sparkly tinsel are handspun into brightly colored wool and mohair fibers to create the one-off yarns. The wool fibers come from Australian sheep and mohair via South Africa.  We currently employ 4 women from the Hong Kong Lady MacLehose Centre which helps underprivileged women who would ordinarily have trouble finding work, secure jobs to supplement their family incomes.
